Country in grip of cold, dry weather

Lahore (Staff Report): The country on Wednesday remained in the grip of cold and dry weather as chilly continental winds lashed almost all parts of it.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted a two-day rain spell with snowfall in various parts of the country from Thursday (January 3).

The department has predicted rain with snowfall over the hills at scattered places in Quetta, Zhob, Kohat, Malakand and Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while light rain is likely at isolated places in Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, DI Khan, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Rawalpindi divisions, and Islamabad.

According to experts, the rain spell will end the foggy conditions, which continued to prevail in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Peshawar division during the morning/night hours.
