FIA initiates inquiry against Aleema Khan for hate speech

Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated an inquiry against Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, over alleged hate and anti-state speech and creating a divide between the people and the armed forces.

The notice, issued by Assistant Director Investigation Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh, states that a FIA section officer, at the request of the Ministry of Interior, has initiated an inquiry (No.4/24) against Aleema.

The agency has summoned Aleema on February 6 at 11 am.

The notice was issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and mentioned that Aleema has to ensure her presence at the inquiry, or legal action will be taken.

Earlier the day, the trial court in Rawalpindi on Saturday handed seven-year sentences, each to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in Nikkah during Iddat case.

Both the accused have also been fined Rs500,000 each.

According to detail’s, Senior civil judge Qudratullah announced the verdict on the complaint of Bushra’s former husband Khawar Fareed Maneka in a makeshift court at the Adiala district jail.

On Friday the judge had presided over the case of an illegal nikah during iddat proceedings in Adiala Jail and reserved his verdict.

The case was filed by Bibi’s first husband, Khawar Maneka, alleges that Bushra violated the Islamic practice of observing the mandatory pause, or Iddat, between two marriages.

Maneka also accused his ex-wife and Khan of having an adulterous relationship before their marriage.

Four witnesses in the case gave the statements, which were later cross-examined during the proceedings.

Khan and Bushra Bibi also recorded their statements under ection 342.

In her statement, Bushra declared the divorce certificate of November 14, 2017, as fabricated, claiming she completed her mandatory iddat period from April to August 2017 after receiving a verbal triple talaq from Maneka in April 2017.
