At least 7 killed in firing incidents in Upper Kurram school firing

Upper Kurram (Staff Report/Agencies): At least seven people were killed in separate incidents of firing in the Upper Kurram area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district on Thursday.

As per details, unidentified gunmen shot the teachers who were gathered to perform their exam duties in the staffroom of Government High School Tari Mangal.

In another incident in Parachinar, which falls in Upper Kurram and is the capital of Kurram district, a teacher was killed whilst in a moving vehicle — taking the total number of educators killed in a day to eight.

The authorities have imposed emergency in all hospitals in the area.

President Arif Alvi condemned the attacks, grieving the killing of “on-duty teachers”.

The president said he hoped that the “suspects will be arrested soon and punished according to the law”.

Following the incident, the ongoing matriculation exams the supervision of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Kohat — have been postponed till further notice.
