ONE championship: Ahmed Mujtaba set to face Turkish Amir Halil

Bangkok(Lara Badreddine): MMA star Ahmed Mujtaba is set to return to action next month when he takes on Turkish counterpart Halil Amir at ONE Championship’s fight event, ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs Andrade.

The two fighters will clash in a Lightweight MMA contest in the early hours of November 4 inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Considered one of the best martial arts starts to emerge from Pakistan, Quetta-born Mujtaba will fight for the first time since facing Sage Northcutt earlier in May at ONE Championship’s historic United States debut event, ONE Fight Night 10.

Despite being one of his most difficult bouts to date, the 30-year-old will be keen to go back to winning ways after a submission defeat against Northcutt halted his two-win-streak.

Mujtaba, who has won four medals in the Pakistan Grappling Championship before capturing the UGB MMA featherweight title, knows the importance of securing a win against the surging Turkish athlete that would improve his overall record (10-3) and give him a much-needed boost to rebuild momentum.

On the other hand, 29-year-old Amir is looking for his third win at ONE Championship since making his debut in October last year. A win will not only push the #4 Lightweight MMA contender’s overall record to 10-0 but may also bring him closer to challenging for the world title.
