In reply to contempt notice, Imran expresses regret over unintentional utterances

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday submitted a second reply in contempt of court notice issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against him for allegedly threatening a judge.

In his reply, Imran Khan expressed deep regrets over his unintentional utterances, saying he could not think of speaking anything against the judiciary. He said that his words were not meant to hurt the feelings of Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

The PTI chief also assured the IHC that he had profound regard and respect for this court and its subordinate courts and judges, who are dispensing justice to the common man in severe difficult times.

“The utterances were never meant to interfere with or in any way influence the course of administration of justice,” he said and added that he never meant to hurt her feelings and if her feelings have been hurt, it is deeply regretted.

Last month, the court took notice of the former prime minister’s speech at a public rally, where he allegedly threatened Islamabad additional sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry for extending PTI leader Shahbaz Gill’s remand.
