Nawaz Sharif leaves Punjab House as he kicks off 'homegoing' rally

Islamabad (Staff Report): Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left Islamabad via the famous Grand Trunk Road (GT Road) to reach Lahore today (Wednesday).

According to details, Nawaz Sharif is set to conduct a rally from Islamabad to Lahore in a bid to show his popularity among the people despite security concerns following a bomb blast in the Punjab province’s capital.

Fear griped Sharif’s party workers after the truck bombing killed at least two persons and injured 30 others on Monday.

Current Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was there to see him off at Punjab House. Nawaz Sharif has also planned to deliver speeches at important places where even bigger crowds of supporters are expected to turn up.

A PML-N leader said, “The security is an issue, though elaborate measures are being taken to make the journey free of any risk.”

At Express Chowk PLM-N’S workers have started gathering, where Nawaz Sharif will make his first address of the rally, which will reach here after marching through Margalla Road and Embassy Road.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be given a reception at Mujahid Plaza, Faisal Chowk, Blue Area. Another reception will be hosted in his honor at Zero Point, I-8 and Faizabad.

Receptions will also be hosted at Shamsabad, Rehmanabad and Liaquat Bagh. The really will reach T Chowk after marching through Mareer Chowk and Kuchehry Road.

Later, the rally will reach Rawat City. The rally will reach Jhelum via Mundara, Gujjar Khan, Sohawa and Dina.

Nawaz Sharif will stay for a night at Sarai Alamgir.

However, the Islamabad Traffic police could not finalize an alternate route. Meanwhile, 17 members of the Sharif family have reached Lahore.
