Children’s Literature Festival held in Multan

Multan (PR): A District level Children’s Literature Festival (CLF) held at the Government Muslim High School Multan.

The CLF is the largest learning festival for children in Pakistan since 2011. A large number of visitors including Professor Anne Marie Schimmel, the renowned scholar of sufism and Allama Iqbal, attend the festival.

Talking to the participants, Multan Commissioner Imran Sikander Baloch said he ‘would like each child, youth and adult to be a friend of books and learning’ -the CLF is an endeavor to achieve this mission.

The festivals included story telling; readings and theatre, the art of book making, understanding and singing the tarana/anthem of the CLF written by Zehra Nigah ‘hamein kitab chahey’, an interactive stall by the State Bank of Pakistan Museum to understand the heritage of our money and story of numeracy and expression through arts and crafts ‘ jo parhay who rang bharay’.

The facilitators for the curtain raiser CLF were Amra Alam (author), Atif Badar (actor/theatre specialist),  Baela Raza Jamil (educator, Zubaida ,  and  (writers/publishers) Saeed ..  (curators) Inam Elahi (artist) and Amtul Basit (teacher trainer) all participated  on behalf of OUP, ITA, and the State Bank of Pakistan Museum respectively.
