CJP takes suo moto notice of Chichawatni's minnor rape-burnt case

Islamabad (Staff Report): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar on Thursday took suo motu notice of an eight-year-old girl who succumbed to her wounds after being burnt alive and allegedly raped in Chichawatni, the sources reported.

According to details, after taking suo motu notice the CJP directed IG Punjab to submit report of the case within 24 hours.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan argued that CJP Nisar took notice of the incident after it was reported in media while victim’s family and neighbours had already requested Chief Justice to take notice.

It is pertinent to remember tha Noor Fatima, 8, a secorond-grade student, had gone missing on Sunday evening after she left home to buy some sweets.

But she went missing and later her family members and neighbours started looking for her and found her in a street in an unconscious state, with burns all over her body. The burnt body of the miner was shifted to the hospital where doctors declared the miner 70 to 80 per cent effected and the girl died during treatment late on Monday night.

This happening sparked street protests and a shutter-down strike in her hometown, the protesters raised slogans and came with banners appealing for justice, the protesters demanded that the culprits behind the girl’s murderer be hanged.

On Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a committee under Sheikhupura regional police officer (RPO), to probe the incident.
