Nawaz Sharif, sons fail to appear before NAB for recording statement

Lahore (Staff Report): Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz did not appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigators on Friday.

A NAB team from Rawalpindi has reached Lahore to record the statements of Sharif and his sons.

The NAB had issued notices to members of Sharif family to appear before the accountability body to join investigation into the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case.

A heavy contingent had been deployed at NAB office in Lahore following the expected appearance of Nawaz Sharif, his sons and others.

On the other hand, PML-N Senator Asif Kirmani said that neither Nawaz Sharif nor his sons will appear before the NAB in Lahore as they had not received any summons.

However, the NAB authorities on Friday clarified that notice regarding summons of Nawaz Sharif had been made receive at Jati Umra residence.

According to sources, as Sharif and his sons failed to appear before NAB today, a second summons may be issued within the next week or so. A third summons may also be issued if they do not appear before the NAB after the second notice.
