Ali Zafar harassed me more than twice, Meesha responds to defamation notice

Lahore (Staff Report): Popular singer, model and actress Meesha Shafi on Thursday filed her reply in the defamation case filed against her by musician and actor Ali Zafar.

In her reply submitted to Lahore sessions court through her counsels Mohammad Saqib Jilani and Advocate Tasawwur, Shafi stated that Zafar had harassed her on more than two occasions.

"Ali Zafar harassed [me] at a private studio and family functions," she said in the response.

“I was compelled to take action against Zafar because the musician had also harassed several other female artists aside from me,” she said. "I will also provide evidence [of the allegations] when the court asks for it," Shafi added.

She urged the court to dismiss the defamation suit filed her against by Zafar.

Earlier, Shafi had alleged that Zafar subjected her to sexual harassment on more than one occasion.

“Today, I speak up because my conscience does not allow me to be silent anymore,” said Meesha in her statement. “If this can happen to someone like me, an established artist, then it can happen to any young woman hoping to break into the industry and that concerns me gravely,” Meesha said in tweet.
