Two policeman martyred in KP’s Khyber blast

Bara (Staff Report/Agencies): At least two policeman were martyred and nine others were injured in a blast at the tehsil compound office in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bara area on Thursday.

According to police, two suicide attackers tried to enter the compound, but timely action by security personnel foiled the attack. Police official said, “Immediate retaliation by personnel killed the attackers.”

KP Inspector General Akhtar Hayat confirmed that the attack was led by two terrorists who entered the compound from the main and rear gates. Both of the terrorists were killed in the attack.

The martyred policemen were identified as Tayyab and Noor Bahadur while the injured policemen include: Hanif, Abdul Hadi, Ajmal, Zubair, Nawaz and Gulzeb. The injured civilians were identified as Waris Khan and M. Arshad.

Rescue 1122 officials said 10 policemen had been shifted to different hospitals for treatment. They said there are reports of a man buried under the rubble as the roof of the building collapsed due to the explosion.

Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and started search operation.
