Explosion kills at least 5, injures 20 in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal area

Karachi (Web Desk): At least five people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion near Maskan Chowrangi Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

According to details, the explosion occurred at a building first floor of a four-storey building in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 7.
Police and Rangers teams reached the spot soon after the incident and launched a rescue operation.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of 11 people is said to be critical.

As per the initial report, nature of the blast has not been ascertained yet but the impact of the explosion was so severe that windowpanes of the nearby building were shattered.

Police officials say that the blast may have occurred due to a gas cylinder, but clarified that the Bomb Disposal Squad was investigating the incident.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed the Karachi commissioner to submit a detailed report in this regard.

He also directed authorities to ensure medical treatment for those injured in the incident and expressed grief over the deaths reported.

A day earlier, five people were wounded when a bomb exploded at the entrance of a bus terminal near Sheerin Jinnah Colony.
