Karachi (Staff Report): The new Hijri year 1440 will begin on September 12 (Wednesday) as Muharram-ul-Haram moon not sighted across the country.

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee under the chair of Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman for the sighting of Muharram-ul Haram moon held on Monday at Pakistan Meteorological Department’s office in the metropolis.

After the meeting, Muneeb ur Rehman announced that day of Ashura , which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), will fall on September 21.

Earlier, the Met Office had predicted that Muharram-ul-Haram will begin on September 12.
