JUI-F ends Islamabad sit-in, announces to block highways across Pakistan

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday announced to end Islamabad sit-in and block highways across the country.

Addressing the ‘Azadi Marchers’, the JUI-F chief revealed his Plan B for the ouster of Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying the JUI-F is ending its dharna (sit-in) in the federal capital and spreading the protest across Pakistan.

Unveiling his party’s Plan B, Maulana Attaur Rehman said implementation on Plan B has already begun.

He said that the workers staged a dharna protest on the Quetta-Chaman highway. "We will also block Chakdara Chowk in Lower Dir and Indus Highway according to our plan.", he added.

Maulana Attaur Rehman said that Shahrah-e-Resham was blocked as well by the Azadi Marchers. "We will close Indus Highway at the Link Road," he said. "In Punjab, we have blocked G.T. Road at Buzdar."

He said that workers of the JUI-F will start implementation on Plan B from Thursday at 2:00 PM.

"Workers should not carry sticks to the sit-in protests," he said. "Ambulances must be allowed to pass through." he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the JUI-F held a consultation meeting under supremo Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman where it devised its future strategy.

In the meeting, the JUI-F chief was briefed about the plan by all four provincial chiefs of the party. Fazl expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements in place for the plan.

As per the sources, The JUI-F decided on blocking all main roads throughout Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

All the thoroughfares of Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be closed as well by the Azadi March supporters.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that all plots to stoke instability in Pakistan will fail.

In a tweet on Wednesday, she described the plan B of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a senseless political plan saying Maulana is failing to comprehend what to do next.

The special assistant asked the JUI-F chief to rather bring forth a democratic and public plan. She said the JUI (F) chief should refrain from any irresponsible act.

Thousands of protesters held sit-in protest in Islamabad demanding resignation of Prime Minister.

The anti-government protest rally led by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman started its journey from Sindh on Oct 28 and reached the federal capital on October 31.
