Begum Kulsoom's funeral prayers to be offered at Sharif Medical City on Friday

Lahore (Staff Report): The dead body of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will be brought back to Pakistan tonight (Thursday).

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight carrying dead body of Kulsoom Nawaz will leave for Lahore from London's Heathrow Airport on Thursday night and land at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday morning.

The funeral prayers of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will be offered in Lahore at 5pm on Friday (September 14).

According to a Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Spokesperson, the funeral prayers will be offered at Sharif Medical City at Jati Umra in Lahore, while Quran Khawni will be held on Sunday between Asar and Maghrib prayers.

Earlier on Wednesday, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif also arrived in London to bring back the dead body of Kulsoom Nawaz for burial in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of Begum Kulsoom was offered at Central Mosque near Regent Park in London on Thursday. Her funeral prayers were attended by sons Hassan and Hussain, brother-in-law Shehbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar, Ishaq Dar among others.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz passed away in London on Tuesday after a months-long battle with cancer. She had been placed on life support earlier as her health began deteriorating.

Kulsoom travelled to the British capital city in August last year, where she was diagnosed with Lymphoma, prompting Sharif family members to get her admitted to the upscale health facility.

The former first lady, who contested elections from NA-120 Lahore last year, was shifted to the intensive care unit at a UK hospital from the emergency unit after her condition deteriorated ahead of Eid ul Fitr.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Hassan, Hussain, Maryam and Asma.
