Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated with religious zeal, fervor

Lahore/Islamabad/Karachi (Staff Report): Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country with great religious zeal and fervor.

The day dawned with special Eid sermons where Ulema stressed for unity of Muslim Ummah and prayed for the prosperity and well being of the country. On this occasion, special prayers were also offered for the progress and prosperity of the country, unity of the ‘Ummah’, solution of their problems and liberation of Muslim territories.

A huge number of big and small Eid congregations were held across the city.

On the occasion, Ulema from different schools of thought delivered special sermons to highlight the significance of the day. They called upon the faithful to promote the lofty principles of Islam for peace, tolerance, forbearance, co-existence and harmony in the light of the Holy Qur’aan and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in different parts of the country including the federal capital to avoid any untoward incident on the auspicious occasion.

Snap checking and patrolling by law enforcing agencies have been increased.

In the federal capital, main Eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque.

In Lahore, Eid paryers were offered in Badshahi mosque, Qaddafi stadium and Data Ali Hajveri mosque.

Government has announced holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr. According to a notification issued by Interior Ministry, Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will be observed from June 15 to June 18 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday).
