Following a dog bite incident last month in Dharwad’ village in Karnataka state, Kumar Marewad was taken to a hospital due to high fever last week by his family.
Given that the infection was taking over the 17-year-old’s body, doctors at Dharwad Hospital told the family that he would survive without life support after which the family made the difficult decision to take him off the ventilator. He was declared dead and his funeral proceedings have started.
